  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

While originally looked at as a mere knock off of the superior “Halloween”, “Friday the 13th” proved to be one of the many definitive teen slasher flicks of the 1980’s. It introduced a new type of killer to the genre and redefined horror for many. Its spawned one of the longest running and successful franchises in horror film history and has a huge following by many loyal followers. Through a troubled history, it proved to be a huge triumph grossing 5 times its budget and while bashed by snobby critics, it is beloved by true horror fans.

The film follows the death of two counselers following the drowning of a young boy. Some twenty years later, the camp is reopened with new counselors with sex and drinking on the brain. They go there only to soon get picked off by a psychotic killer.

If you saw the other sequels before seeing this one, then you probably won’t be able to appreciate as much. This film is truly inventive and is one of the best horror films of all time.

  3. OK 2.5

The acting isn’t all that great.

The kids aren’t very interesting but they definitly do have their moments.

The only actors I can think of who I thought did better than decent were Betsy Palmer as Mrs. Voorhees and the actor who played the crazy(yet very memorable) old man.

  4. Male Stars OK 2.5
  5. Female Stars OK 2.5
  6. Female Costars OK 2.5
  7. Male Costars OK 2.5
  8. Great 4.0
  9. Direction Great 4.0

The camera angles are very good and the suspense’ll keep you at the edge of your seat for those truly frightening scenes.

  10. Play Very Good 3.5

Sure, the dialogue isn’t a strongpoint, but its definitly not a weakpoint, either. Its not as clever or as witty as “Nightmare on Elm Street” or “Halloween”, but there are times where it keeps you interested.

  11. Music Perfect 5.0

Like with most horror films, the musical score is very memorable and very chilling.

  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0

The blood is very reallistic. Kudos to the legendary Tom Savini on this one!

  13. Content
  14. Sordid 3.1

Probably one of the most violent and sex filled movies of the 80s slasher flicks.

  15. Sex Erotic 3.0
  16. Violence Savage 3.7
  17. Rudeness Profane 2.6
  18. Supernatural 3.1
  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 3.1
  20. Biological Supernatural 3.1
  21. Physical Supernatural 3.1
