  2. Really Great 4.5

This is a romantic comedy about an american woman named Georgia. She is a college professor, that couldn’t get a break, turned tour guide for a hole in the wall tour company. She gets no respect and the worst clients. People think that she’s boring and average, until her last set of her usual clients came along. Here she meets Poupi, her creepy yet intruiging driver, and Irv, the “funny guy” of the group that turns out to be one of the most influential people she knows; she comes to the realization that it’s not only the history of Greece that’s beautiful, but it’s how full of life it is.

  3. Really Great 4.5

Nia Vardalo’s character, Georgia, was just as funny as her character on My Big Fat Greek Wedding. She lights up in her performance, bringing true comedy and warmth throughout the film. i thought that her being stuck-up-ish and a bit of a depressant, was quite refreshing and honest. She brought romance back in a typical but heart felt way. Irv is played by the famour Richard Dreyfuss, corkey, funny, and sarcastic in a “seems to know what he’s talking about” way. He really puts things into perspective for the character Georgia as Irv, but while you’re watching, you can’t help but feel like he’s kinda talking to you too. His performance was hilarious, yet oddly comforting. Now Poupi’s character is played by Alexis Georgoulis, a greek native, and his role was perfect. Alexis’ charater was funny, romantic, disterbing in a sexual I-don’t-know-if-I- can-look-away manor. For the ladies, he’s definitely something to look forward to in this film; for the gentlemen, just watch for the Spanish divorce’s, very pretty ladies. All in all, the performances of each charater was well thought out and well executed. Definitely, every actor in the film did their characters well, I am left without a feeling of wanting.

Now how much better is it for someone to go to greece to film a movie about greece? I know that I’m jelous just thinking about it, but, that’s what they did in this film. The cast was sent to Greece to get the full experience and they certainly got it. The writers really knew their history too. They added so much to the film and authenticated the role for Nia’s character. Beautiful scenery, great angles, and the markets where they filmed, were what sucked me into the story. If you don’t like “chic flicks”, I’d hope that you would at least appreciate the beauty that they respectfully illustrated in the film of the country, as well as the many smart aleck comments that are vocalized throughout as well. The director’s vision was loyal to the vision that the Greeks have of their country, and I deeply respect his work.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Tame 1.5

The “edge” of the film, I would call quite mild. You have some drinking, a fist fight, and the tour bus crashing because of Nia’s character distracting Poupi, you should see that because I almost couldn’t stop laughing. But other than that, it’s a great film for teens and adults. Children, just wouldn’t get it. I can definitly say that the film is worht having around, even if it’s just for your girlfriend.

  15. Sex Innocent 1.3
  16. Violence Gentle 1.5
  17. Rudeness Salty 1.6
  18. Natural 1.0

As far as “reality” is concerned, I’d say that this film can be quite possible. a person can move for a job, get let go, get a crappy job where no one appreciates you, then finding someone that tries to steer you in the right direction and you wind up finding love and happiness in the end. Alright, so that last one is a movie thing. But, when you think about it, there are some people that have gone out and have been through similar situations. I just hope that with those situations, maybe the love and happiness comes out of it too, not just in the movies. I intend on learning from it a bit as well, maybe take some of the advice that’s been given and use it to my advantage, the writers did their jobs well. The reality of the story makes me want to better my life, will it do the same for you?
