Very Good 3.5
While not the most original of comedies in any respect, Sex Drive still does deliver tons of good, solid laughs. A combination of American Pie, Road Trip and really every other teen raunch comedy, Sex Drive is all about Ian, his two friends and his pursuit of female companionship. Ian has been chatting online with seductress “Ms. Tasty”, practicing being everything except the nice guy he really is. After misreading a comment from his best friend Felicia and making a move on her, Ian is prompted to meet Ms. Tasty at her request. What follows is a road trip where Ian, Felicia and Lance get into crazy hijincks and learn all about each other and themselves.
Like I said, nothing original, but its enjoyable none the less. The characters are genuine and keep your interest. Had this come out about 10 years ago, it would be much more enjoyable. But as we have seen these all before, its just a solid ride with a bunch of belly laughs.

Great 4.0
Josh Zuckerman as Ian is a loveable guy – but really nothing more than Jason Biggs at his height. He’s got a good sense of timing and is very believable as the loveable virgin.
Amanda Crew as Felicia is . . . . fantastic. She has got that troubled girl/sex pot thing going on and she drives me crazy. I can’t help but thinking if she would like a wedding on the beach or indoors somewhere. . . .
James Marsden as Ian’s brother Rex is the biggest surprise of this movie for me. I’ve never seen the guy in this kind of role and he is HILARIOUS. He is over the top redneck tough guy with a love of old cars, dirtbikes and girls. He’s the older brother that you hate if you’re related to him, but drink beers with him if you’re not. Dude is so much funnier than I thought he could be.
My biggest problem comes with Clark Duke as Ian’s friend Lance. I will say first that the dude is funny. He has got this delivery that is spot on and his personality fits the character to a tee. But he looks like a complete tool. Personality goes a long way and I understand that is part of the point, but looks are part of it and this guy looks like an idiot. He dresses like a mook and his hairstyle is just terrible. His hair looks worse than Nic Cage in Ghost Rider. Its that bad. There is only so far I can stretch credibility on this one and he just looks like too much of a douche bag for me to believe he is some kinda ladies man.
Seth Green delivers as always. Great, dry sense of sarcasm that was a treat for the brief time he was in the flick.

Very Good 3.5
Nothing spectacular in the way of film quality. They are able to shoot the jokes and give the characters their time and space that is needed. Otherwise nothing too special this way.
The script was really well written I think, but mainly in the way of dialogue. The way each character talks is distinct and natural so the jokes hit like they should.

Sordid 3.4
Very raunchy flick. The language is about as bad as it gets, but its not in an angry way so it doesn’t hit too hard. Its all in fun and jest, but it is still here. I watched the Unrated version and they intentionally CG’d naked people in all over the place. Out of no where we would see boobs or penis (penises? peni? penis’? I don’t know the plural of that) for a good long shot. I’m sure the theatrical cut is also laced with lots of nudity.

Glib 1.7
Just like any of these road trip flicks, its kinda far out there in what they come across during the drive, but its not too fantastical. Just enough over the top to be interesting, but still grounded in reality so you can relate to it.
