  1. Quality
  2. Perfect 5.0

This is a tale about a man named Jean-Baptiste. He was born with an acute sense of smell. He can smell scents from miles around. Now I’m sure you know when someone says “You smell so good I want to bottle you up and sell you”, well after this movie, you’re probably going to wonder whether or not that person means it literally. Jean-Baptiste meets with a perfumist named Giuseppe Baldini, and finds out how to make perfume as a young apprentice. Then when Jean-Baptiste started realizing that there are more scents in the world, he tries to bottle it up. Since he perfected his technique, he now wants to bottle the scent of a woman, or anyone for that matter considering he didn’t have a scent of his own, how he does that is just down-right creepy.

  3. Really Great 4.5

Ben Whishaw- Jean-Baptiste Grenouille- Naive, sensitive, and yet highly psycotic, that is this man’s role in the film.

Alan Rickman- Richis- This is a small role about a man trying to protect his daughter from the “Great Jean-Baptiste Grenouille”

Dustin Hoffman- Giuseppe Baldini- The Famous french perfume maker and Jean-Baptiste’s mentor.

Everyone in the film did very well, there was no part of the film really that was small for any character.

  4. Male Stars Really Great 4.5
  5. Female Stars Really Great 4.5
  6. Female Costars Really Great 4.5
  7. Male Costars Really Great 4.5
  8. Perfect 5.0

The costumes, the descriptions of scents, the colors, the writing, the scenery, all absolutely tie together. The camera angles inthe scenes where there is horse back riding across vast lands and how they didn’t shy away from any obscene moments in the film was amazing, how whenever he would be smelling the air for something, it just goes right into great detail without any word. The tone of the story was certainly vivid with the use of the arrangements in the film. It really made me glad that they didn’t have to use too many spoken words to tell the story, with the lack of words in the film, the arrangements really made up for it.

  9. Direction Perfect 5.0
  10. Play Perfect 5.0
  11. Music Perfect 5.0
  12. Visuals Perfect 5.0
  13. Content
  14. Sordid 3.2

Plenty of everything. Grotesque, sexual, and disturbingly interesting. That’s the best way to describe it, really.

  15. Sex Lewd 4.5

There is a wide scene where everyone in the entire town, from the king and queen of france to the priests and nuns of the village, all have a mass orgy in the middle of town square. All is seen! Good and very very BAD! How that actually happens though…interesting…..

  16. Violence Savage 4.0

From the beginning when Jean-Baptiste is born, to when he… well that you’re gonna have to find out for yourself how it ends… but ultimately, quite disturbing. Fish guts, of course the killings, the brutle, well.. look, you need to just watch now don’t you! All in all, they gave everything and left nothing to the imagination. You just have to watch.

  17. Rudeness Polite 1.0
  18. Surreal 3.0

Unlikely events, definately. This story is about a man with such a hightened sense of smell that he could reach miles… Now you tell me, does it exist? I really don’t think so, but that is kind of cool. But to have someone so obsessed over something that he would murder to get it, that’s more likely. And BTW how can there be somone that’s so obvious about something that they are up to, yet everyone around him is so oblivious? That’s the movie biz I guess. But this movie is pretty amazing, unique and it really does make you think afterwards.

  19. Circumstantial Surreal 3.0
  20. Biological Surreal 3.0
  21. Physical Surreal 3.0
