How does a family react when their mom is dying? What does the dying person go through? This movie gives us a surprisingly realistic look though character studies that are sometimes funny but always heart-fealt and genuine.

Sally Field takes the cake for helping us understand what really happens. A performance that was truly compelling. All the rest were very good as well, some very notable performances.

The movie is filmed in a “Friends” style sit-com, except without the sit-com style humor. Instead, the humor and interactions are more subdued – funny, yet more fitting for the circumstances. This worked well, because that is how people are in life — using humor to break up the situation, not to be the main focus of it.
