  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

Heath Ledger stars in this slightly offbeat take of a commoner’s quest for fame and love in Old England. Although it didn’t do that well in overall reviews, I personally found this movie to be very entertaining, full of entergy and humor and a delightfully refreshing albeit off-camber approach to period film-making.

  3. OK 2.5

Heath is the star as Sir William Thatcher posing as Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein. He largely plays a sincere and basickly good-natured man seeking fame and fortune. A far cry from the Joker in Batman, however. Rufus Sewell is natrually good as the bad man Count Adhemar. Shannyn Sossamon plays Laydy Jocelyn — but nothing too notable from her performance. My favorite was Paul Bettany as the funny and flamboyant Geoffrey Chaucer.

  4. Male Stars OK 2.5
  5. Female Stars OK 2.5
  6. Female Costars OK 2.5
  7. Male Costars OK 2.5
  8. Very Good 3.5

The direction and film making were the best part about this movie. Not only was the action and storyline great, but I loved the use of modern music and actual change of cast behavior that didn’t fit in to old England. It kept me on my toes and added a lot of fun to the story.

  9. Direction Very Good 3.5
  10. Play Very Good 3.5
  11. Music Very Good 3.5
  12. Visuals Very Good 3.5
  13. Content

  19. Circumstantial Glib 2.0
  20. Biological Glib 2.0
