OK 2.5
An entertaining movie with outstanding special effects, kudos-worthy fight scenes, and for once, a film worthy of its R rating. If you are a comic hero buff, you will leave this movie happy — but for me, the film tries to accomplish too much and has too much of a story to convey. As a result, I found myself the most entertained when the simple to understand good-guy vs bad-guy action happened, and less-so during the numerous back-stories and background.

Good 3.0
Jack Haley wins my acting vote with his rendition of Rorschach who tells his own story in a narrative tone. An admirable job by Patrick Wilson as the Nite Owl, who has great chemistry with Malin Akerman as the Silk Spectre II. Carla Gugino was a surprise as Sik’s mom.

Barely OK 2.0
Outstanding special effects and the filming of the older era comic-heros did not come across as cheesy in any way. A lot of drama and back-story was mixed in, and while it was filmed well, trying to cram that all in to an action/hero movie was a bit much.

Regarding Wick’s Review Wish I could separate my head from the comic on this one and be a bit more objective. |
