  1. Quality
  2. Great 4.0

Christian Bale stars in a “McGuyver meets Stalag 13” film about a US Figher pilot shot down in Laos during the Vietnam war. Filled with plenty of action and a fairly deep study of character and strength you will find yourself engrossed in all the phases from capture, comraderie, and escape.

  3. Good 3.0

Christian Bale stars as Dieter Dengler, a man who starts off with a cocky attitude towards his captors, but who is quickly thrust in to some pretty harrowing conditions. I really liked Jeremy Davies (also in Saving Private Ryan) as Eugene as the crazy prizoner, and Steve Zahn was great as Duane.

  4. Male Stars Good 3.0
  5. Female Stars Good 3.0
  6. Female Costars Good 3.0
  7. Male Costars Good 3.0
  8. Great 4.0

Apparently the story is supposed to be close to the truth and many reviewers talk about the directory Werner Herzog who pulls a bit of a 180 with this type of movie after previously filming the same story as a documentary (“Little Dieter Needs to Fly”). The movie is extremely well done, with outstanding scenery (filmed in Thailand) and direction that — while maybe not 100% identifiable as a real story — came pretty darn close.

  9. Direction Great 4.0
  10. Play Great 4.0
  11. Music Great 4.0
  12. Visuals Great 4.0
  13. Content
  14. Tame 1.5
  15. Sex Innocent 1.5
  16. Violence Gentle 1.5
  17. Rudeness Polite 1.5
  18. Glib 1.5
  19. Circumstantial Glib 1.5
  20. Biological Glib 1.5
  21. Physical Glib 1.5
