  1. Quality
  2. OK 2.5

Simon Pegg playes Dennis Doyle, a man who ditches his pregnant fiance at the alter. Years later, he turns in to a loser-type working as an out of shape security guard. When he discoveres his ex Elizabeth (Thandie Newton) has a rich, successful, friendly, marathon-running new boyfriend – he decides to compete with him in the London Marathon. The resulting story, albeit formulaic, has plenty of laugh-out-loud moments among the drama and romance that you are plenty entertained even though you might easily guess the outcome. All-in-all, a fun movie to watch.

  3. OK 2.5

Even though I don’t remember him from other movies, Simon Pegg clearly is an old-hand at the comedic-role in movies. He managed to keep things funny through an otherwise relatively ho-hum plot. Hank Azaria plays “Whit” the romantic rival — and does a great job at balancing someone who looks both reasonable as the romantic winner, but successful at revealing jerk tendencies. Harish Patel also deserves a mention as the funny landlord-trainer from India.
