Very Good 3.5
A fast pased comedy in the style of an era gone by starring Frances McDormand as Miss Pettigrew and Amy Adams as Delysia. Pettigrew, after being fired yet again from another job fakes her way into a new job as a personal secritary for Delysia – whom Pettigrew helps navigate some tricky social situations. The fact that it is a 1930’s period film fits in very well with it’s wacky comedy approach – and the 30’s jazz score helps keep the movie going at its rapid pace. The acting was first rate, and a great movie for lovers of romantic comedy. It left me wondering if it was ever done on stage — because the actors certainly did not rely on the cinematography to help them at all.
