  1. Quality
  2. Good 3.0

Overall this was a pretty decent flick. It’s not as good as the other 2 for sure, but its still enjoyable. By the third film, the setup is not as original and there are some laughs that just don’t hit as hard as a result. Yeah, we’ve got a chinese dude and a loud black dude working together and its awkward. We got that much, so lets move on to new stuff. At the same time, though, it is a movie very aware of itself. Case in point is where the duo have the expected fight (more prominently seen in Shanghi Noon and Knights) and split for a time. During that time, they start to see things – very racially steriotyped things – that make them miss the other. It ends with Carter ordering Mu shu take out and Lee ordering fried chicken from room service. Funny stuff. Overall it was decent. The best way I can put it is that if I was flicking through channels and saw this movie on, I’d probably keep it on and watch for a bit. You won’t necessarily seek it out, but you won’t avoid it either.

  3. OK 2.5

I will forever love Jackie Chan. Chris Tucker is not so funny anymore, but he still has a moment or two.

  4. Male Stars Very Good 3.5

Jackie Chan is the man and they do well by making Chris Tucker more of the sidekick. Its no longer hey I’m loud and I talk funny, its all more in support of Chan. That bit was enjoyable. Chan is always fun to watch and he actually has some acting chops.

  5. Female Stars Barely OK 2.0

Disposable. They did find a girl who still looks good with a shaved head which is impressive, but beyond that they could have gotten anyone in that role.

  6. Female Costars Pretty Bad 1.5

    Again, disposable.

  7. Male Costars Good 3.0

The guy who played Kenji was actually interesting. I would have like to see more of the relationship between him and Lee. That much of it was genuinely entertaining, especially during the final fight scene. Chan and Kenji actually are convincing as one time brothers.

  8. OK 2.5

Same old same old. I expect a bit more from Ratner. This felt more like an obligation rather than trying to do something really original. The care chase was cool, but that’s about it.

  9. Direction OK 2.5
  10. Play OK 2.5

Still pretty funny, but like I said the original flavor has faded a bit.

  11. Music OK 2.5
  12. Visuals OK 2.5
  13. Content
  14. Sordid 3.0

I think this one has a bit more sexual stuff in it than the other two. Its a little bit dirtier, but not too different otherwise. Fights galore, but nothing real violent.

  15. Sex Erotic 3.0
  16. Violence Brutal 3.0
  17. Rudeness Profane 3.0
  18. Surreal 2.5

Lots of real fighting and great stunts, but that’s not how fights really happen. They are not that pretty and props aren’t that conveniently set up. Fun to watch, but if you think a fight is ever going to happen that way in real life then you need to get out of the house a little bit more. I think the fight at the top of the Eiffel Tower was a bit over top – especially the descent to the bottom – even for a Rush Hour film.

  19. Circumstantial Surreal 2.5
  20. Biological Surreal 2.5
  21. Physical Surreal 2.5
