  1. Quality
  2. Bad 1.0

I have never felt more uncomfortable during a movie than I did watching this one. Normally any movie that could get that kind of emotional response from me succeeded on some level. And it is a horror movie so the discomfort is something that comes along with the genre most of the time. I will give the film makers credit for causing that reaction, but they did so by taking the easy way out and they took it too far. Have a young woman sexually assaulted and an infant put in danger and its going to get a response without even trying. There was nothing clever, nothing new, nothing really redeeming in this movie. The vengeance taken on the freaks at the end is gruesome, so you feel a bit better about what happened, but its not enough. The movie just leaves a bad taste in your mouth. For the life of me I don’t know why I watched it twice.

  3. Pretty Bad 1.5

Typical horror shlock. The only convincing person is the young blonde daughter. She genuinely looks terrified and after the sexual assault, is shaken for the rest of the movie and you believe her. Its actually part of the reason you fell so uncomfortable throughout the flick.

The only other compliment I can give is that the mutants (especially hairlip rapist) wear their makeup well. But even that credit probably has to go to the makeup artist, not the actors.

  4. Male Stars Pretty Bad 1.5
  5. Female Stars Pretty Bad 1.5
  6. Female Costars Pretty Bad 1.5
  7. Male Costars Pretty Bad 1.5
  8. Barely OK 2.0

It was a horror movie with a little bit of time and money put into it. Just enough to raise it above “B” movie quality, but not by much. I would have liked to see more of the mutants, their interactions with each other and their lives. There’s really no explanation as to why they are the way they are, socially. They have children that (though disfigured) look relatively normal. That doesn’t make any damn sense with the rest of the movie.

  13. Content
  14. Obscene 5.0

If you don’t like feeling dirty and uncomfortable, then avoid this movie at all costs. It is very violent, but that has been seen and done before. Nothing as far as the violence is going to make you lose your lunch. Its the trailer assault that pushes this movie too far. The movie being what it is, there was a very real chance that the baby was going to get a bullet in its head and that is an awful thing to anticipate. Had that happened, I would have walked and not watched any further. Too bad it didn’t redeem itself by the end and you can’t get past that one scene.

  15. Sex Explicit 5.0
  16. Violence Monstrous 5.0
  17. Rudeness Vile 5.0
  18. Supernatural 4.0

Something tells me that radiation isn’t this friendly. Maybe its because I don’t know too much about contamination and its effects, but its really seems like these people should be dead, not just mutated. I also think its really convenient that its the men who have the ugly mutations. The ladies just have offset eyes or their hair fell out. Doesn’t make a damn bit of sense.

  19. Circumstantial Supernatural 4.0
  20. Biological Supernatural 4.0
  21. Physical Supernatural 4.0
