Peter Saarsgard – the typical Silicon Valley engineer with success professionally (but not so much socially) is paired with Molly Parker as the drummer/stripper with an understated sophistication in Las Vegas. This movie was a total surprise in just how believable the characters were. Even the foreys into dreamy sexual encounters came across as realistic – except for the inexplicable over-use of strip clubs by Peter, who otherwise gets the engineer character perfectly – without resorting to the use of cliches. Molly (Florence) takes Peter (Richard) up on his offer to spend a little of his dot-com millions for a fun weekend in Vegas, and from then on in is the perfect paid-for companion. After the novelty of the Vegas trip subsides for you as the viewer, the movie goes deep in to getting to know the characters, including deep explorations of the human condition, including lonliness, love, frustration, sex — it runs the gamit. Not for the “light” movie viewer, but
