Very Good 3.5
Another very entertaining Coen movie! Billy Bob Thornton plays an understated barber who’s life tumbles calmly out of control. Filmed in black and white 1940’s Santa Rosa, I loved story because of the subtle and sarcastic humor, as well as the how things progress from surreal to uncanny. From the cheating Frances McDormand, the boorish James Gandolfini, his wacky wife Katherine Borowitz, the hucksterish Jon Polito, the overly chatty brother in law Michael Badalucco, the ultimate slick and self-centered lawyer Tony Shaloub, drunkard Richard Jenkins and his sweet and wise daughter Scarlett Johannsen, and others – the entire cast pulled off a great film noir.

Wow, sounds like a great movie with a great cast. Somehow I’d never heard of this one before. Now I figure I’ve got to check it out. |
