Very Good 3.5
Its not often you get to see a mainstream actor in a mythic/period piece such as this, and Brad “I will look down upon your corpse and smile” Pitt doesn’t disappoint as the invulnerable Achillies. How cool is watching him take down worthy opponents with deft jumps and swift swings of his sword? A stark contrast to the wimpy Orlando Bloom as Paris, but a
great analogy to the stoic Eric Bana as Hector. Admittedly, the acting isn’t something so
terribly memorable, but the story had a great pace, the action plentiful, the movie made the classic stories more understandable by not attempting to mix in any of the complexity of the gods/goddesses and instead focused on the politics and passions of love, and the brutality of war must have been like in those days. Absolutely worth renting. -
