1st Thor: Ragnarok
2017 Perfect 83 Points

Marvel puts it all together for one of their very best movies yet in Thor: Ragnarok, an absolutely terrific blockbuster, and a damn funny one at that. Crayon colored, heavenly inspired, charismatically performed, deeply rooted yet easily accessible, it would be great even it weren't a sophisticated LOL-fest. But it is.

Notwithstanding typical Marvel density of plot, backstory and character, Thor 3 is easier to follow than many Marvel movies, especially the often convoluted Avengers episodes. It's amazing how smooth it is.

Add in well-crafted moviestar performances from Chris Hemsw…

2nd Thor: Love and T...
2022 Perfect 66 Points

Taika Waititi & Chris Hemsworth have done it again, fused comedy with superhunkiness to create another perfect Marvel movie. Thor: Love and Thunder is all that, as was its immediate predecessor – "Ragnarok":https://www.viewguide.com/movie_reviews/4645-thor-ragnarok.

Waititi is a genius writer-director, Hemsworth an old school moviestar for a new age, insanely handsome and deftly self-deprecating. Love and Thunder marks a continuation of their golden age. But it's not just Waititi's filmic brilliance and his leading man's charisma that makes Thor 4's cup runneth over.

3rd Thor
2011 Very Good 90 Points

Norse mythology – vainglorious and a bit fussy – isn't everyone's cup of grog. Yet it inspires a marvelous comik movie. Just this side of campy in the opening reel, Marvel's latest proves gracious and charming by the middle, then thunderously thrilling in its climactic battle sequences.

Most of the film takes place in the supernatural realms of the Norse gods. These spectacularly realized fantasy settings provide a legitimate grandeur that hard core fantasy fans will love. As a casual fan, I was plenty happy to go along for the ride.

Three strong leads give the movie real heft, es…

4th Thor: The Dark W...
2013 Great 66 Points

A ton of fun, notwithstanding its fashionably dark title, Thor: The Dark World features great baddies, ample turnabout, strong women and one mighty powerful hammer. My theater really enjoyed it, dates even more than dudes, judging from all the female laughter. That was mostly triggered by two terrific female characters and the relationship one has with what can only be described as The Ultimate Boyfriend.

That would be Thor, God of Thunder and Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Asgard, the most bitching celestial realm imaginable. IOW, quite a catch for an Earth girl, even one played by…
