The $150 First Prize goes to BigDaddyDave's review.  He took a bit of a contrarian POV relative to the other reviews, rating the movie as merely Very Good.  His commentary justified the decision, pointing out that Moneyball doesn't escape its baseball subject.  "The face appeal of Brad Pitt is soon lost on the movie-going date who doesn’t understand what 'on-base percentage' is versus 'batting average'."  Solid warning.

 

The $50 runner up prizes go to Snackula and MovieGod300.

 

  • Snackula's dense analysis covers the waterfront of this fascinating movie's myriad elements.  Ultimately he focuses in on the journey that Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill's "characters take in helping their team rise above what most would consider an impossible circumstance."
  • MG300 zooms in on Aaron Sorkin's peerless writing, arguing "he definitely should get a nomination for best adapted scree nplay and hell he might even win."
