OK 2.5
High gloss musical fantasy can’t escape its lame dialog and unfortunate casting. The song and dance numbers, however, are terrific.

Very Good 3.5
I’m considering John Travolta a Female Star for this movie, thus dragging down poor Michelle Pfeiffer and the other ladies due to his silly and tiresome performance. Honestly, the guy makes more poor career choices than any other A list star.
Michelle Pfeiffer, always watchable, continues to prove herself as great a performer as a beauty.
James Marsden was a revelation here: charismatic and buoyant, completely the opposite of his forgettable Scott Summers from the X-Men trilogy.
