Very Good 3.5
Ender follows a successful sci-fi formula: get tough and get the bugs. Space bugs, that is. So folks who just like the shoot-em-up basics will be quite pleased with technological marvels and bug blasting. But what if you want something more heady? This is where Ender differentiates just a little. If you read the book, you might be a little underwhelmed – but if you are new to the Orson Scott-Card series, you’ll be left pondering the morality of forced service, manipulating the young, and the annihilation of an alien species. This is a series, but I’m wondering if Gavin Hood can really step up to be able to deliver Orson’s complex messages.

Good 3.0
Asa Butterfield was actually a perfect pic for Ender. Tough and no-nonsense, yet vulnerable when it gets down to it.
Harrison Ford is, of course, an icon in the sci-fi scene
I liked Ben Kindgley in a small role as a bug blasting hero
