   Great 4.0

   Good stories tend to be told over and over again, and the story of Superman is no exception. This time the story focuses on the fact that Superman is, well, not really a man. Something that isn’t really a focus in SMs of the past. And of course, because it is 2013, another thing that makes this SM different is the tons of high tech effects, explosions, huge mean creatures, and evil-to-the-core characters. But besides the great story about Superman’s (a.k.a, Kal-El, a.k.a. Klark) roots is the great supporting cast that tells the story. All in all, great summer blockbuster season entertainment.

4. Acting

   Really Great 4.5

   Henry Cavill is a perfect fit for Superman; Hunky and humble enough to please all the women out there, and tough enough to get the attention of us guys.

   Amy Adams is great shows huge potential as the superhero’s ongoing partner in do-good-ness.

   Michael Shannon has that perfect face and persona for the bad guy, as we’ve seen from Boardwalk Empire and Premium Rush. He does great here as well.

   Diane Lane and Kevin Costner are great as Adopted parents.

   Russell Crowe is a solid and strong presence as real-dad Jor-El. Mom Antje Traue doesn’t have a large part but is solid as well.

   All-stars Richard Schiff, Christopher Meloni, and Laurence Fishburne – big names and big talent in not so big parts. Not to say that the talent was wasted, but it was a surprise.
