  1. Quality
  2. Really Great 4.5

Just as “Men in Black” is to Sci-Fi, “The Cabin in the Woods” is to Horror. I mean, you can’t even call it a horror movie per se — even though there is lots of horrific scenes. It’s more of a comedic analysis of horror; a theoretical proposal about how horror happens – whatever. And the comedy is understated but ever present which a healthy dry undertone which I love. The horror is formulaic – except for why it happens. All in all, a really great movie where you’ll have fun at a horror show.

  3. Great 4.0

I’ll start by mentioning Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford, who were brilliantly cast as the operatives behind the madness. I’ll also mention what amounts to little more than a cameo from Sigourney Weaver who fits perfectly as some sort of master manager. Regarding the victims? Well, I’d say the most interesting is Fran Kranz as the stoner dude and Anna Hutchison as the girl with the survival instinct. There is Chris Hemsworth who is now quite notable, but in this film, he’s the requisite jock who pairs well with Kristen Connollly as the requisite sluttress.
