Really Great 4.5
A tense espionage thriller, Nazi-hunting, constant stress invoking action, romance, top notch acting – what’s not to love about ‘The Debt’? I’m a huge fan of the genre (think ‘Munich’ and the Bourne series, etc.), but ‘The Debt’ takes it to a new level for me with a deeper and more introspective drama from a cast that can’t be beat, with a chemistry that can’t be beat. Thre are a few spots in the film that are a bit contrived, but these can be easily overlooked because of the great quality of film-making and acting overall. Put this on your ‘must see’ lists!

Perfect 5.0
Cast of the older group, or cast of the younger group? With greats like Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, and Ciaran Hinds, the young guns have big shoes to fill. Jessica Chastain, Martin Csokas, and Sam Worthington all show great range, deep drama and emotion, and performances that would make their elders proud. In the end, both groups are great and add to each-others performances. Of course, adding to the generational Mossad agents is a wonderful performance from Jesper Christensen as the evil Doctor.

Great 4.0
John who? Kidding, but to me, John Madden comes out of nowhere to pack this punch. My biggest complaints about the film are with the writing – but really nit-picks: It seems that such a professional group of agents wouldn’t have let someone get away like they did, and the sheer-chance conclusion is a bit out there – but heck – in the end they are just nits.
